OBJECTIVE

To use my unique set of skills developed as a software executive and as a youth minister for mission to help provide a quality ministry in a local church or an urban ministry. 

CHURCH EXPERIENCE 

FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Richardson, TX        2001-2006
A large United Methodist Church with 300 active youth.
Youth Minister for Mission

  • Responsible for all youth mission trips and projects.
  • Organized and led 6 mission trips each year.
  • Interacted with all grades but relational focus with 11th and 12th grades.
  • Organized Serving the Homeless ministry to feed 200 homeless persons in downtown Dallas once a month.
  • Assisted the youth department in using technical developments to expand our ministry.
  • Technology liaison for department;
  • Managed development for church youth website
  • Organized youth and parent email addresses for weekly email update 

YOUTH MINISTRY ASSOCIATES, Garland, TX            1998-Present

SECULAR EXPERIENCE

YOTTA NETWORKS, Plano, TX   2001
Director, Software Development - Directed the efforts of 21 software developers responsible for the Network Element software.  This software was based on the LynxOS operating system and ran on embedded processors.  Updated and managed schedules, coordinating with the hardware and test departments. Tripled department size from 7 to 21 people in five months.  

INET TECHNOLOGIES, Richardson, TX 2000-2001
Director, Platform Software - Direct a department of over 20 people responsible for developing, testing and maintaining the operating system software.  Conduct performance reviews and handle career management.  Develop and manage schedules.  Coordinate with other departments and senior management. Doubled department size, hiring 11 key employees in six months. Created an annual budget of over $3 million and consistently met budget guidelines. 

USDATA, Richardson, TX   1992-2000
Senior Software Engineer to Vice President, Software Development - Directed new product development team consisting of 16 software engineers.  Responsible for budget, performance reviews and project planning for each development project.  Managed a group of 10 software engineers on object oriented Windows NT development. Instituted rigorous software development standards, including generating specifications for requirements, design, and testing, as well as tracking of software problems. 

SCIENCE APPLICATIONS INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION, Dallas, TX          1988-1992
Senior Software Engineer - Team leader in the development of a multi-tasking, real-time signal processing system.  The software for this system was written in C and assembler for a 286 processor. Integrated VRTX, a multi-tasking operating system, to handle the task processing and communication between tasks.  Developed the communication and control processing portions of the system and worked on the signal processing software.  Coordinated the software integration and test effort and developed subsystem test plans. 

TEXAS INSTRUMENTS, Dallas, TX        1982-1988
Software Engineer - Assisted in the development of a system for testing the hardware and software integration of a real-time signal processing system.  Team leader for four software engineers responsible for supporting software configuration management. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Certified in Youth Ministry by the United Methodist Church, 2007
  • Directed Junior High Conference camp for 4 years (2004-current)
  • Helped found C2K, a home repair ministry aimed at youth; Board member for 5 years; Current chair of the board
  • Teach “Fundamentals of Youth Ministry” class at Perkins School of Youth Ministry each January, since 2006
  • Experience with many software tools: Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Front Page, MediaShout, ACDSee
